2020 has been an incredible year, and that is putting it mildly. As we all continue to try and adjust to our “New Norm”, we know that the holiday season will be different from anything we have ever seen.
Families may not be able to get together and celebrate long standing holiday traditions due to travel restrictions imposed due to Covid-19.
Town holiday events like the Christmas tree lighting, Santa on the green, menorah lighting, and many others will not be held this year due to the pandemic.
In an effort to bring everyone together while staying safely apart we will be sponsoring two amazing activities and providing you with an opportunity to purchase an anniversary t-shirt to display your festive spirit.
It's that time of the year. We proudly announce that the Fairfield Fire Fighters Santa Express will be back for its 15th consecutive year. Many of you have made us part of your holiday traditions and it is great to see the same faces year after year. We have seen your children grow up before our eyes. We feel humbled to be part of your holiday. Last year was our most successful year ever and we were able raise over $26,000 for the Tommy Fund for childhood cancer. Well childhood cancer does not stop for Covid and neither do we. This year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are going to have to be a little but more creative and change things up a bit. Our fire fighters have continually responded to all emergency calls throughout the last 7 months exposing themselves to possible infection and we are very fortunate that only one of our members has tested positive so far. Fairfield continues to fight the spread of the Corona virus and we do not want to place any of you in a position that might bring this unwanted guest into your homes. With the safety of all in mind, we have decided that this year we will go to a virtual online visit from Santa and friends.
Here’s what we have in mind….Your kids get an email from the North Pole asking about their Christmas list and asking them to join one of Santa’s elves online to talk about their list and make sure we have it right. While talking to our elves Santa and Mrs. Claus pop in, chat, and spread a little Christmas spirit.
We hope that next year we can get things back to normal and resume with the Santa Express that we all know and love. It has been our pleasure over the last 14 years helping to make your holidays special but the safety of our community has to be front and center this year. Our virtual format, while different from years past, will help us continue spreading Christmas joy in Fairfield. We hope you all understand and we hope to see you all soon.
Please understand we will do our very best to accommodate your requests however, Santa is a busy person at this time of year. We will email you an invoice with additional information about your virtual visit.
This brand new Town Wide contest will give us the opportunity to show our holiday spirit with our families and our community while maintaining a safe social distance.

Laura Macca and the residents of Oyster Road. We didn't have a category for a whole neighborhood but we had to recognize this great neighborhood display. It truly shows that you can "Bring the Community Together While Staying Safely Apart ".
